I did this skin study with this wiki project:

I felt inspired.
This is rendered out of Blender Cycles and then comped in Natron. ( I don’t yet fully grasp how to comp in Blender, and Natron is basically a free version of Nuke ).
This was just a test, so there’s still stuff I’d finesse for a final, but I think I’m ready to move on.
Then again: there’s a pretty robust hair system in Blender—so maybe I won’t move on…
All of these renders were on the GPU and took on average between 3-6 minutes.
